Here is a box, a musical box, wound up and ready to play, but this box can hide a secret inside! Can you guess what is in it today?
Windy Miller (and Fabulous Films) cordially invites you to join him and the rest of the Camberwick Green village folk in Gordon Murray’s timeless 1966 classic. Enjoy all 13 original episodes once again, fully restored from the original film negatives. This iconic British animation was filmed using stop-motion animation with each 15 minute episode taking around 4 weeks to film. Peter the Postman regularly performed the same dance with Mrs Dingle, re-using existing footage so it helped save on both time and budgets.
Set in the fictional picturesque village of Camberwick Green, each episode opens with a character emerging from a music box who becomes the central character of the forthcoming story.
The series was originally called ‘Candlewick Green’, but the name was misspelled on the contract. Gordon Murray liked the new title so signed the contract as it was. In 2016, Caterham Cars released a limited edition model of their Seven range called The Sprint with a Camberwick Green colour option.
Windy Miller was revived, in a series of television adverts for Windmill Bread in 1987 and Quaker Porridge Oats in 2005, which was voiced by Charlie Higson. Brian Cant auditioned for the part but didn’t get it as he later revealed “they told me it didn’t sound like me. I suppose I don’t sound just as I did 40 years ago.”
