The most anticipated episode of The Boys is here – Herogasm! The action begins with The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Homelander (Antony Starr) discovering the security footage of Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) killing Countess (Laurie Holden). Homelander confides in Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) asking him what Soldier Boy might be up to. This leads to Noir violently cutting out his tracking chip and going dark from Voight and The Seven.
Meanwhile Little Nina (Katia Winter) has kidnapped Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Cherie Sinclair (Jordana Lajoie) in a bid to punish Frenchie (Tomer Kapon). She tells Frenchie he must choose which one live and which one dies – Kimiko breaks free though and shows her annoyance at the situation!
Elsewhere Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie (Jack Quaid) strike up a deal with Soldier Boy where they agree to help him track down his former Payback teammates in exchange for his help in killing Homelander. One step ahead though are MM (Laz Alonso) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty) who have located the TNT Twins – Tyler (Jack Doolan) and Tessa (Kristin Booth) in Montpelier. Upon arrival MM and Starlight discover that the TNT Twins are hosting Herogasm – an annual superhero orgy!
A powered-up Hughie runs in A-Train at the party and wants a fight but A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) genuinely apologises for everything that happened but Hughie can’t process that so hits him. A-Train is shocked but walks away apologising leaving Highie unfulfilled in his vengeance. The Soldier Boy arrives, killing the twins and a few others and has a fight with Homelander (with Butcher and Hughie chipping in).
A-Train spots Blue Hawk (Nick Wechsler) at the party and confronts him about what happened to his brother. Blue Hawk shows little remorse, so A-Traiun grabs him and uses his super speed to drag him along the ground grinding him into pieces. He then collapses of heart failure.
Finally, Starlight identifying herself as Annie films a livestream announcing her departure from the Seven and publicly condemns Vought, Homelander, and Soldier Boy!
Verdict: 8.5/10. Whilst the Herogasm event itself was a bit of a let-down the rest of the episode fired on all cylinders. Stories developed and progressed, and it looks like A-Train finally saw the error of his ways and got some redemption and closed out his story arch. Whilst it would be impossible to live up to the Herogasm of the comics I was hoping for more than what we got. The divide between tv show and comic book continues but it is happening in an exciting and interesting way!
