Denise “Violet Beauregarde” Nickerson in critical condition following a stroke

It is Cult Faction’s sad duty to report that Denise Nickerson – known to millions as Violet Beauregarde in 1971’s Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory – has suffered a massive stroke that has left her in critical condition. This happened last month and news has since been broken across Facebook where a group has been started to help support her medical costs. The group has been offering updates on her health status as well as offering autographed items for cash to assist her.

In addition to WIlly Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, Nickerson also appeared in Flipper, The Brady Bunch, Dark Shadows, The Electric Company, Smile and Zero to Sixty. She was considered for the role of Regan in The Exorcist in 1973 but her mother refused to allow her to screen-test for it after reading the script. She also auditioned for the part of Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

All of Cult Faction wish her well in her recovery.
