Debuting in January 1980 and running for ten episodes (of which only six were initially broadcast), B.A.D. Cats stood for Burglary Auto Detail, Commercial Auto Thefts and followed the adventures of Nick Donovan (Asher Brauner) and Ocee James (Steve Hanks) – two former race car drivers who joined the L.A.P.D. were the motorcar knowledge was put to good use as part of the B.A.D. C.A.T. squad. It was basically a Dukes of Hazzard/Starsky and Hutch hybred! Nick and Ocee worked under Captain Eugene Nathan (Vic Morrow) and often needed they help of Officer Samantha “Sunshine” Jensen (Michelle Pfeiffer) to close the case of the week.
The case was usually presented to Nick and Ocee by Captain Nathan, a bit of detective work would follow with Sunshine. A visit to Rodney the snitch (Jimmie Walker) would provide a lead; then it was high speed car chases and stunts resulting in bad guys been smashed off the road and arrested. Usually Captain Nathan would then moan at our heroes for their reckless ways but at the same time was proud of all the criminals they were catching. Then the episode would round up with a drink at Ma’s (LaWanda Page) bar!

A Dukes of Hazzard/Starsky and Hutch hybrid is a perfect description! Plus add a bit of Charlie’s Angels vibe in too.
