Melody Anderson is a Canadian actress who rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s for her roles in various film and television productions. Born on December 3rd 1955 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, She made her television debut in 1977 with roles in Logan’s Run and Welcome Back Kotte. She went on to appear in several other television series, including The Love Boat, Night Heat, Forever Knight, The Fall Guy, Battlestar Galactica, B.J. and the Bear, Dallas, T.J. Hooker, CHiPS, The A-Team, Manimal, Murder She Wrote, and Jake and The Fat Man. Her last television appearance was in 1995 as a guest star in the short-lived CBS revival of Burke’s Law.
Anderson’s film career began in 1979 with roles in Pleasure Cove and Elvis. Roles followed in the films Dead and Buried, Policewoman Centerfold, Ernie Kovacs: Between the Laughter, Highschool U.S.A, The Boy in Blue, Beverly Hills Madam, Firewalker, Intimate Betrayal, Cannonball Fever, and her last film role to date 1993’s Marilyn & Bobby: Her Final Affair but Anderson is best known for her role as Dale Arden in the 1980 science fiction film, Flash Gordon. The film was a cult classic and Anderson’s performance as the brave and adventurous Dale Arden was highly praised. She has since become a cult icon and is often remembered for her role in the film. She even appeared at GalaxyCon Richmond in February 2020, for the kickoff of the Flash Gordon 40th Anniversary World Tour.
Throughout her career, Anderson has been recognized for her talent and dedication to her craft. She has received numerous awards and nominations for her performances, including the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards and the Gemini Awards; since stepping away from the spotlight Anderson has become licensed in California as a Certified EMDR Clinician/EMDR Therapist, as well as a LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in the states of New York and California, with private practices in Manhattan and West Los Angeles. She also facilitates therapy groups at numerous treatment centers in the Los Angeles area. If that was not enough, Anderson is also an international lecturer and media spokesperson on addictions and the family and has made presentations about substance abuse and other mental health-related areas of study.
