Following on from the end of Part 2 we find Reva Sevander (Moses Ingram) in conversation with Darth Vader. Reva’s ambitions are clear, and Vader (Hayden Christensen/James Earl Jones) takes advantage of this promising to promote her to Grand Inquisitor she finds Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor).
Meanwhile Kenobi and Leia’s (Vivien Lyra Blair) transport arrives on the mining planet Mapuzo where they make their way to the rendezvous point Haja Estree (Kumail Nanjiani) gave them, but it appears that nobody else is there. Hitching a ride on an Imperial transport driven by Freck (Zach Braff). They are later captured but just as all looks hopeless a female Imperial officer, Tala (Indira Varma), reveals her true allegiance and blasts the stormtroopers, saving our heroes. Tala then leads them to a secret subterranean passageway but just as safety is in sight the Dark Side approaches…
Verdict: 8/10. The strongest episode of the series so far, and a chance to see Vader as truly evil. One of the downsides to the original trilogy is that you never really see Vader do anything bad, this was rectified in Rogue One and now it looks like we will see him as he truly should have been portrayed all along. Kenobi’s shock and fear jumps out of the screen and helps seal a very compelling episode.
