Directed by Ford Bebe and B. Reeves Eason, The Vanishing Legion was an American Pre-Code Mascot film serial that was first shown in 1931. It consisted of 12 Chapters eavh usually ending with some form of cliffhanger. It begins with masked villain The Voice (voiced by Boris Karloff) setting out to sabotage the Milesburg Oil Company.
Unfortunately for “Happy” Cardigan (Harry Carey), The Voice’s sabotage mission could make him bankrupt as Happy needs to successfully drill for oil before his contract with Milesburg expires/ If Happy fails he looses everything!
Meanwhile, Jimmie Williams’ (Frankie Darro) father, Jed (Edward Hearn), has been framed for murder. Secretary Caroline Hall (Edwina Booth) appears to have an ulterior motive. The mysterious “Vanishing Legion” is also on the scene.
Jimmie and Happy team up, along with Jimmie’s horse Rex, to defeat The Voice and solve the mysteries surrounding Milesburg!
