Puppet Master: The Legacy (2003)

Directed by Charles Band, Puppet Master – The Legacy is the eighth film in the Puppet Master franchise and begins at the Bodega Bay Inn where a room has been rented out by a mercenary named Maclain (Kate Orsini) who, as we join her, is sat reading Toulon’s diary in the hope of finding some secret to his formula. Suddenly the diary bursts into flames so Maclain heads down to the basement where she finds a man named Eric Weiss (Jacob Witkin) talking to the last Toulon puppets: Blade, Pinhead, Jester, Tunneler, and Six-Shooter. Eric explains that he knew Toulon before he died, and that he swore he wouldn’t pass it to anyone else. Maclain threatens Eric with a gun. Eric then takes out a tape recorder, and plays a recording that Toulon left him.

Later Eric reveals that he is actually Peter Hertz, the boy who was saved by Toulon in Puppet Master III: Toulon’s Revenge. Maclain grows angry at Eric, believing he knows far more than he is letting on and shoots him in the knee. Eric defiantly states that Toulon only killed those who deserved to die. Maclain disagrees, bringing up the murders that happened with the parapsychologists in Puppet Master II (which appears to be back in canon). Maclain threatens to shoot Eric again, then Eric tells her that the puppets fought a war that was a hell of a lot tougher than anything they ever known, and then he plays another tape recording of Toulon, which tells about Sutek’s attempt to steal the elixir formula to kill the Puppet Master…
