Directed by Harry Bromley Davenport, Xtro follows what happens to a man named Sam Phillips (Philip Sayer) who is abducted by a strong alien light whilst playing with his son Tony (Simon Nash).
Three years later, the light returns, and plants a seed which grows up into a half-human, half-alien creature (Tim Dry) where in its confusion it is hit by a car. The driver Ben (Robert Pereno) is attacked and killed when he looks for what he hit; his companion Jane (Katherine Best) is also killed. The creature then moves to a cottage nearby and attacks and impregnates a woman (Susie Silvey) living there, before dissolving and dying.
When she returns to consciousness the woman finds her belly rapidly and painfully grows to a gargantuan size and she soon naturally gives birth to a fully formed and bloody Sam, who is connected to her by an umbilical cord. The mother then dies and “Sam” cleans himself, steals Ben’s clothes and drives his car without bothering to get rid of Jane’s corpse, which is later found by a lorry driver. Sam then goes to look for his son Tony…
Has Sam returned? Has Sam been reborn? Or is it something a lot worse?
