We remember Larry DiTillio – The Fan-Boys’ Writer
Born Lawrence G DiTillio on 15th February, 1948, little is known of his upbringing but it wasn’t until in to his 20’s that Larry started writing for television before landing a role as writer for the animated series, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. He had the accolade of writing the 17 episodes throughout the course of the two series and directing one of the episodes too. He later played a part in a rebooted 2002 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series.
In the mid 80’s he took to writing a feature length movie, He-Man and She-Ra: Secret of the Sword. She-Ra was particularly personal to him because he created her. He also wrote for Kong: The Animated Series, Beast Wars: Transformers, Hypernauts, and Conan: The Adventurer.
What Larry was best known for was for being Executive Story Editor on Babylon 5, and also wrote for Murder She Wrote, Deadly Nightmares, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Swamp Thing, Captain Power, Bionic Six, Galaxy High School, and Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling.
Larry was a regular at Comic-Con’s, always having a smile for the fans, one fan said that he had time for anyone who had time for him, and he treated everyone equally. He died of Parkinson’s Disease on March 15th 2019 aged of 71.
