Richard Erdman – A character actor’s character actor
Richard Erdman was born on June 1st 1925, he was an actor and director and was considered a successful character actor with a career spanning seven decades. His film credentials are vast and one if his first film roles was in 1944 opposite Bette Davis. Through his career, two of his most notable appearances standout, in the World War 2 Pacific film Tora! Tora! Tora! As Colonel Edward F. French, Chief, War Department Signal Center and as Sgt. “Hoffy” Hoffman in Stalag 17.
Working right up to 2015 in a recurring role in the comedy series Community as Leonard Rodriguez, Richard never lost his enthusiasm for his art.
He died from “age-related dementia” at an assisted-living facility in Los Angeles on March 16th 2019 aged 93.
