Tanya Roberts now confirmed to have passed away aged 65

Following an initial false announcement it has now been confirmed that Tanya Roberts has passed away at the age of 65 years old. The sad news was originally broken by her friend and agent Mike Pingel who revealed that Roberts collapsed while walking her dogs on 23rd December 2020 and was admitted to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre. No cause has been given and the Hollywood Reporter states it was not Covid-19 related. Later it was confirmed she was still alive.

Roberts’ longterm partner Lance O’Brien has since explained this confusion noting when he visited her Sunday at the hospital she was unresponsive on a ventilator but he stated that when he told her he was there, she sat up and opened her eyes. This led him to believe she was responding, but he says hospital staff told him it was just a reflex and she was “out” shortly afterward. Lance tells us he was beside himself, so he got in the elevator and left. He told Mike Pingel “I just said goodbye to Tanya.” Pingel then released the statement believeing she has passed away whilst O’Brien went home and fell asleep, only to wake up later to phone calls about her passing. She has since sadly passed away.

When once asked about her career she commented:

“Fans make you. I certainly hope that people like me in the work and I appreciate every letter that I get. I’m glad they like me or else I wouldn’t be in the business. But for fans it’s a very different reality than it is for me. They’re going to watch the finished product, which has taken us five months and a lot of hard work . . . I mean, I’ve been choking for the last three days on smoke–it’s not very glamorous. It’s not what it looks like in the movie, I’m on my knees, bruised half the time, it’s action, action, action.”

Roberts has a number of high profile roles in her career including Bond girl Stacey Sutton opposite Sir Roger Moore in A View To A Kill, Julie Rogers in Charlie’s Angels, Officer Britt Blackwell in Vega$, Kiri in The Beastmaster, Sheena in Sheena Queen of the Jungle, Rebecca in Hot Line, and Midge Pinciotti in That 70’s Show. She also appeared in Fantasy Island, Barbershop, The Angry Beavers, The Blues Brothers Animated Series, Silk Stalkings, Body Slam, and The Love Boat.
