Cult Movie Essentials: Leapin’ Leprechauns! (1995)

Directed by Ted Nicolaou, Leapin’ Leprechauns! follows John Dennehy (Grant Cramer) a son who thinks his Irish father Michael (John Bluthal) has gone crazy as ever since he arrived for a visit. John has invited his father to America from Ireland to meet his kids but really he wants him out of the way as he has hired a pair of surveyors and builders to turn the area of Fairy Hill where Michael lives into an amusement park called Ireland Land. Michael has lived peacefully on Fairy Hill for most of his life and now gives tours of the grounds to visitors on bus excursions. Unbeknownst to John, Michael lives in harmony with the living world of Fairy hill which includes leprechauns and the fairy folk.

Michael has not travelled to America alone. Along for the ride has come King Kevin of the Leprechauns (Godfrey James) along with his Leprechauns Patrick (James Ellis) and Flynn (Sylvester McCoy) also Queen Maeve of the Fairy Folk (Tina Martin) has travelled with them to “preserve the power balance.”

What we get is the conflict between Michael the father and his out out touch son John. Can Michael bring him back in touch with the natural world and save Fairy Hill?
