Cult Movie Essentials: An Amorous Woman of Tang Dynasty (1984)

From the Shaw BrothersAn Amorous Woman of Tang Dynasty follows Taoist priestess Yu Yuan-gi (Pat Ha Man-chik) who wants a life that go beyond the traditional parameters of her station. While associating with the upper echelon of society, she engages in a controversial relationship with roving swordsman Tsui Pok-hau (Alex Man Chi-leung). Pok-hau eventually leaves Yu to resume his travels in the martial world.

In the meantime, Yu earns the reputation among the townsfolk of being amoral. Later. Pok-hau returns but soon abandons her again, prompting Yu to take up with other men. However, when Yu discovers that Chiao her maid has been impregnated by a man whose identity she refuses to divulge, Yu’s actions lead to tragic consequences.
