All for the Winner (1990)

Directed by Jeffrey Lau and Corey Yuen, All for the Winners, stars Stephen Chow as a mainland China country boy named Sing who arrived in Hong Kong and starts to drive his uncle Blackie Tat (Ng Man-tat) crazy until the he learns that Sing has powers that allow him to see through solid objects. Ever the gambling man, Blackie realises that his nephew’s gifts could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams.

Word soon gets out about Sing and he finds himself caught between big time gambling master Hung Kwong (Paul Chun) and his Taiwanese counterpart, Chan Chung (Jeff Lau), both of whom want him to represent them in a forthcoming competition. The latter manages to get Sing first, prompting Hung to try and kill him. The attempt fails and in the meantime Sing has fallen head-over-heels for his boss’s beautiful bodyguard, Yee-mong (Sharla Cheung Man), and is unable to play when she is taken hostage by Hung’s men…
