WWF WrestleMania was a game developed by Twilight and published by Ocean Software in 1991 for the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, and DOS. It was the first WWF licensed game available for these computers which were still popular at the time in Europe.
In the game a player could choose either Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, or “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith to take on five opponents and become the WWF World Heavyweight Champion. Each match had a five-minute time limit, and a time limit draw or count-out will have the same effect as losing a match. The player has a total of four credits.
The opponents your wrestler would have to face would appear in the following order: Mr. Perfect, The Warlord, “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, The Mountie, and Sgt. Slaughter.
To keep in with the wrestling style the villain would taunt your wrestler before the match and you could choose an appropriate response. As far as move sets went there was mainly punching, kicking, clotheslines, dropkicks and suplexes. A special move could be hit by an old school joystick waggle! Although for some reason Hulk Hogan’s special move was the piledriver in the game and not the leg drop.
If you needed it a practice mode did exist where your wrestler would face an unresponsive opponent who was always Mr. Perfect. A second player could control Mr. Perfect if you were rich enough to have two joysticks.
