In the late 70’s and early 80’s nobody was cooler on the planet than Henry Winkler’s Fonz in Happy Days – so much so that in a bid to capitalise on his popularity the bosses behind Happy Days linked up with animation legends William Hanna and Joseph Barbera to produce The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang – a cartoon show that ran for two seasons (24 episodes).
Narrated by Wolfman Jack, The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang focused on the popular characters of the Happy Days TV show – Fonzie (voiced by Henry Winkler), Richie Cunningham (voiced by Ron Howard), and Ralph Malph (voiced by Donny Most) who were joined in their cartoon world by Fonzie’s dog Mr. Cool (voiced by Frank Welker). When the cartoon aired Happy Days was in its 8th season and Howard and Most had both left the show. They agreed to come back and reprise their roles for this spin-off.
The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang are visited by a girl from the future called Cupcake (voiced by Didi Conn aka Frenchie from Grease) the only problem is her time machine is faulty and needs repairs. Obviously Fonzie is the best mechanic around and couldn’t leave a damsel in distress, so he fixes the time machine but something goes wrong stranding the gang somewhere in time. Each episode they arrive in a different time period whilst trying to get back to Milwaukee 1957. As far as the series went the gang never got home, last being seen in London 1899 hanging out with Sherlock Holmes!
As a side note a number of additional voice sin the show were provided by René Auberjonois,
