Once it was the white hot t.v. show that the world could not get enough of. Many top stars of today broke their teeth in various episodes (Jack Black, Ryan Reynolds, Seth Green, Shia LaBeouf, Giovanni Ribisi, Katherine Isabelle, Felicity Huffman, Luke Wilson, Lori Petty, and Lucy Liu, amongst others). It was a license to print money. Films, comics and merchandise span out everywhere! Baron Munchausen even turned up! Then the mystery of jumping the shark was never solved… until now (possibly)!
FOX co-chairmen Gary Newman has confirmed the network’s attempt to reboot The X-Files for a new season, adding that actors David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as well as the show’s creator Chris Carter are all interested.
“It’s true that we’ve had some conversations on X-Files,” Newman explained. “We’re hopeful of being able to bring that back at some point.” However, Newman stressed that a number of obstacles still stand in the way, specifically relating to the cast’s other commitments: Duchovny is set to star in a new NBC series called Aquarius, while Anderson has a re-occurring role on NBC’s Hannibal.
“We’ve maintained good relationships with Chris, David and Gillian,” Newman added. “We’re very hopeful, but it’s hard. The actors are very busy. They have a lot going on. Chris has a lot on his plate, so it’s just trying to carve out the time.”
If it does come back… give us a few answers – the donkey and carrot can only go on for so long!
