We are Cult Faction have made no secret of our hatred for the upcoming “Fantastic Four” movie from its messing up of Sue and Johnny’s relationship, Dr Doom now being an online hacker, the ultimate Reed – Sue – Ben love triangle – the whole thing is just down right horrible and will be a bigger turkey than Ishtar! Marvel have even cancelled the comic!
Want to know how bad it is? From the horses’ mouths…
Mile Teller who stars as Reed Richards had this to say:
“When I read the script, I didn’t feel like I was reading this larger-than-life, incredible superhero tale. These are all very human people that end up having to become I guess what is known as the Fantastic Four. So for me it was just a really good story and gives me an opportunity to play something different from my own skin.”
Kate Mara (Susan Storm) added that she was supposed to read the Fantastic Four comic books for preparation. However, director Josh Trank suggested to her that it was unnecessary with writer Simon Kinberg adding, that the film is not based on a single issue of the Fantastic Four comic books. Mara has also said that she intended to focus on making her character “as real as possible”
Michael B. Jordan aka Johnny Storm added “We’re more or less a bunch of kids that had an accident and we have disabilities now that we have to cope with, and try to find a life afterwards – try to be as normal as we can.”
As good as that sounds.. reports are coming in that Fox are not happy with how the film has turned out! (SHOCK!)
There are reports the film is being refereed to as Chronicle 2 – Fox feel this is not what they payed for. They are banking on a new franchise like X-Men, Avengers, and Spiderman (*cough*).
One well-connected senior executive described it to me as “a mess”. And multiple sources are talking about a major disquiet at Fox regarding the state of the movie.
Reports dating back 12 months ago stated Fox were approaching other directors and writers to take on the project and restart it from scratch. They had no takers thus Fox denied this at the time.
The alleged new reshoots that are being demanded apparently cost millions of dollars and involve rebuilding previously deconstructed sets in Louisiana.
