TV writer Liz Lemon together with corporate executive Jack Donaghy manage the everyday mayhem at an NBC late-night variety show. Pretending to help them are mercurial stars Tracy Jordan and Jenna Maroney (Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski) as well as wide-eyed NBC page Kenneth Parcell (Jack McBrayer). 30 Rock stars Tina Fey, who has more job titles and awards than you can shake a stick at, as TV writer Liz Lemon, and Alec Baldwin in his just-as-decorated role as corporate executive Jack Donaghy. Broadcast between 2006 and 2013, the show has won 16 Emmy Awards and 6 Golden Globes. In 2009 30 Rock received twenty-two Emmy nominations, a record for the most nominations a comedy show ever received in a single year.

Tina Fey wrote the screenplay for Mean Girls – the box office hit musical currently in cinemas (as well as the 2004 movie). The film went viral after surprised theatre goers only realized it was a musical when they started watching the film at the cinema. Once again Lorne Michaels was Tina Fey’s producer. The professional and personal relationship between Liz Lemon and Jack Donaghy (who considers himself Liz’s mentor) is partly based on Tina Fey’s friendship with Michaels. There are rumours that Fey will be Michaels’ successor as head at Saturday Night Live (currently airing it’s 49th season) when he retires. When asked about it, Michaels cryptically said “Tina’s brilliant and great at everything.”
