It is Cult Faction’s sad duty to report that Ed Asner has passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the age of 91 years old.
Born on November 15th 1929 in Kansas City, Asner had many key roles in his legendary career as an actor. He was also a well known activist and philanthropist who at one time was the President of the Screen Actors Guild, Asner’s acting career took off in 1957 when he appeared on Studio One. His first Broadway role came in 1960 in Face of a Hero alongside Jack Lemmon.
Other key roles included Elf, Cobra Kai, Up, Blue Bloods, Modern Family, American Dad, Doom Patrol, Dead To Me, MacGyver, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Boondocks, The Glades, Hawaii Five-0, The Cleveland Show, All-Star Superman, Young Justice, Justice League Unlimited, Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie’s Island Adventure, Spider-Man, King of the Hill, Family Guy, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Johnny Bravo, The Huntress, Superman: The Animated Series, Zorro, The X-Files, Lou Grant, Hard Rain, Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, Roots, and a whole lot more.
