Brand New Cherry Flavor Ep. 6: Milk Bath begins with a flashback where we see Lisa filming her movie. It reveals that Lisa (Rosa Salazar) and Mary (Siena Werber) were lovers. We are then back in the present of the show (90’s) where Lisa is taking a milk bath at Boro’s (Catherine Keener) house.
As Lisa bathes, Boro reveals that 900 years ago, she was a man who encountered a spirit living in an animal body. The man then had sex with a white jaguar. Later, after hearing an army is heading towards him, the white jaguar taught the man a ritual that gave him the ability to sense where his enemies were. As a result, he was able to set a trap and slaughter all his enemies; but because the ritual involved a toad, the man had to bring his wife to sacrifice. The man tried to trick to jaguar by offering up a different woman, but the jaguar didn’t fall for it. As a result, the jaguar bit off his reproductive organs and left him for dead. The man appeared to be doomed until a young girl appeared and he jumped into her body. Boro said she has been doing that ever since! As for the jaguar, Boro heard that it was killed by the Spanish and made into a couch – perhaps the couch we saw turn into the faceless lady who lives down the hatch in Lisa’s room?
Meanwhile, James (Sean Owen Roberts) tells Lou (Eric Lange) that Lisa is dead, but Lou is concerned they left the body so goes to check on it with Mary who is eager to see Lisa’s dead body. When they arrive, there is no body!
Later when Lisa returns to her apartment James again tries to kill her but is no match for Lisa. Lisa then asks Roy, Christine, and Code to help clean up her mess. Code freaks out and decides to stay behind whilst the body is dumped. Mary then escapes from a cupboard and chats to Code. Code discusses the fact that they are both ex-lovers of Lisa. Later Lisa finds Code dead with Lou’s letter opener stabbed into his eye- we presume Mary did it. Later we see Mary visit Boro.
Verdict: 8/10. More information is presented to us as the jigsaw puzzle pieces start to come together. The tension is beginning to build as is the mythology of the series. What happens next? Who knows?
