It is Cult Faction’s sad duty to report that Mark Eden has passed away at the age of 92 years old after living with Alzheimer’s disease “for some time.” The news was confirmed by his agent in a statement. Eden was married to fellow Coronation Street star Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts. His agent revelaed that Eden had been in hospital since November and died peacefully in the early hours of 1 January, his agent said:
“Mark had a long career spanning more than 50 years, including eight years in Coronation Street, he is survived by his wife Sue, his daughter Polly, his stepson Saul and grand-daughter Emma. We ask that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time.”
Eden was well known for his role as Coronation Street villain Alan Bradley, but he also appeared as Marco Polo in Doctor Who, Donald Baverstock in An Adventure in Space and Time (his final role), and had roles in The Avengers, Quatermass and the Pit, Dimensions of Fear, The Saint, Doctor Zhivago, Emergency-Ward 10, Till Death Us Do Part, Man in a Suitcase, The Prisoner, Jack the Ripper, The Professionals, and Cluedo.
