It is Cult Faction’s sad duty to report that Dame Barbara Windsor has passed away at the age of 83 years old. It has been reported that she passed away peacefully at 8.35pm on Thursday at a London care home with her husband Scott Mitchell by her side. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2014 and then went public with the news four years later.
Mr Mitchell stated her final weeks were “typical of how she lived her life”, being “full of humour, drama and a fighting spirit until the end.” He continued: “I’ve lost my wife, my best friend and soul mate and my heart or life will never feel the same without you.”
Dame Barbara Windsor became a cult figure in the UK and around the world for her roles in the Carry On series of films and later would become a cult icon once more in the role of Peggy Mitchell in the UK soap Eastenders.
