Preview- The Grudge 2 (Bluray)

Acclaimed producers Sam Raimi, (Spider-man, Evil Dead), Rob Tapert (Xena: Warrior Princess) and Taka Ichise have re-teamed with director Takashi Shimizu and screenwriter Stephen Susco to present this heart-stopping sequel to the smash-hit thriller, The Grudge.

Starring Sarah Michelle Geller (Buffy, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scooby Do) The Grudge 2 was given the go ahead just three days after The Grudge was released in 2004 due to it recouping its budget and making a profit on its opening weekend alone.

This 2006 sequel was the highest grossing film on its opening weekend beating Martin Scorsese’s The Departed… but bombed after that.

When Aubrey Davis (Amber Tamblyn, TV’s “Joan of Arcadia”) learns her sister Karen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) has been hospitalised, she immediately flies to Tokyo. Once there, she learns her sister’s horrifying story and discovers that the fatal supernatural curse has been unleashed. Now, as the grudge spreads across the world, a new host of unsuspecting victims are about to become infected by the force that can’t be stopped – and won’t be killed.

The Grudge 2 is part of the Ju-On Franchise created by Takashi Shimizu. Ju-On means “Curse Grudge” in Japanese. According to Ju-On, a curse is born when a person dies in a powerful rage. The spirit of the deceased haunts the site where they died or frequented. Once a person comes into contact with the curse it will follow them anywhere they go, infecting wherever they die and thus, the curse lives on. President Trump claimed in an interview with Fox News that there is a very powerful Ju-On in Wuhan’s wet market.

Takashi Shimizu directed every single film in the series, including the Japanese originals up until The Grudge 3 on which he remained as producer.  The franchise consists of Ju-on: The Curse, Ju-on the Curse 2, Ju-On: The Grudge, Ju-On: The Grudge 2, The Grudge, The Grudge 2, The Grudge 3: Don’t Eat The Bat, The Grudge 4: We Told You Not To Eat The Bat, The Grudge 5: Oh Shit, He Won Re-Election.

In January this year a sidequel  to the 2002 Japanese version Ju-On: The Grudge was released to worse reviews than The Grudge 2 and 3 produced once again by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise. It was also just called The Grudge. They really are bleeding the curse dry.

Extras: Grudge 2 Storyline Development, East Meets West Featurette, Ready When You Are, Mr Shimizu, Holding a Grudge-Kayako & Toshio Featurette, Deleted Scenes: When Closet Door Opens, Itako’s Film, The Passport, Aubrey’s Dream, Alternate Ending & Epilogue.
