Ghosts of War (2020)

I am not a fan of horror, especially war horror as war is horrific enough but Ghosts of War is one of those films that you definitely need to see twice.  Let me explain without giving away too much, the film is set in post D-Day World War 2 with a small unit of American GI’s that are tasked to relieve another unit that has had look after a French mansion that has been vacated by the German’s.  The unit slowly come to terms that the mansion is haunted by a sinister presence.

Through the film we get to understand the characters of the five GI’s in the unit, and all portrayed very admirably by the actors, as they work out what’s going on.  Now I cannot explain the full gist of the story because it would ruin it but there are pointers all the way through the film that point to the conclusion of the film and it is one of those WOW moments when you work it all out.

The film has a Hollywood star associated to the film, Billy Zane, who not only acts in the film but also has an Executive Producer credit.  The whole film is very well directed, acted, and also the cinematography is perfect, there is nothing bad to be said about this film but you must watch it twice to capture everything it has to offer.

Verdict: 10/10 Like I have said, without repeating myself, this film has it’s scarey moments, faint images in the background that make you jump.  Although there are classic moments used in countless films before, they have been redeveloped to not be as predictable as the viewer thinks.  I really want to mention the ending of this film but I can’t or else I would ruin the delight for the viewer.  I really must stop saying I really… but I really do like this film a lot.
