Barbara Bialowas and Tomasz Mandes helm the directiors chair for 365 Days (based on the novel 365 Dni by Blanka Lipinska) where Massimo Torricelli (Michele Morrone), a young and handsome boss of a Sicilian Mafia family, has no other option but to takeover after his father has been assassinated.
Meanwhile, Laura (Anna Maria Sieklucka) is a sales director in a luxurious hotel in Warsaw. She has a successful career, but her private life lacks passion. She is taking one last shot to save her relationship. Along with her boyfriend, Martin (Mateusz Lasowski) and some other friends, she takes a trip to Sicily.
What happens next is that Laura gets in Massimo’s way so he kidnaps her, hold her captive and give her 365 days and she falls in love with him.
This is basically 50 Shades meets the Mafia meets Pretty Woman, and whilst it definately plays more realistically than a lot of the other 50 Shades knock-offs it remains weak and predictable in the plot department whilst being a lot stronger in the graphic moments you would expect in a film like this. It plays almost like some surreal Beauty and the Beast homage, and whilst the #metoo movement will definately find issues with how parts of this film represent women it would seem from the film’s point of view is that all is ok as long as you have enough money to go shopping with.
Verdict: 6/10 I feel the movie achieves what it set out to do, it would have been nice to through a bit more unpredictability along the way though. I’m sure the core audience will have no complaints though.
