Shadowchaser (1992)

Directed by John Eyres, Shadowchaser (known is some regions as Project: Shadowchaser) will look very familiar to you, especially if you have seen Alien 3, mainly because it uses pretty much all the same sets. Set in the near future, we soon discover that a terrorist group has overtaken a hospital skyscraper in downtown Los Angeles – something sounds familiar about that too!

It a twist that makes it clearly not Die Hard,  the terrorist leader Romulus (Frank Zagarino) turns out to be a government funded cyborg created by a man named Kinderman (Joss Ackland).  The terrorists capture a woman named Sarah (Meg Foster), who just happens to be the daughter of the President of the United States of America (Brian Jackson), it is the old hostage blag you see as they want $50 million dollars for her safe release.

Soon the F.B.I. arrive in the form of Trevanian (Paul Koslo) who decides the best course of action is to get the building’s architect out of suspended animation prison perhaps to perform some kind of demolition? man. Unfortunately for Trevanian, the computer guy at the prison is a bit shot away and accidentally defrosts the wrong guy. Instead Desilva (Martin Kove), a former football player who was frozen for accidentally killing a man in a bar fight is now defrosted. Lucking it is Cove on the role and not “Con Air” Cage!

Now Desilva is happy to be freed so does not own up to this case of mistaken identity. This is only revealed when he is in the thick as the lone survivor of the military team sent in to save Sarah. Desilva is ordered to stand down but he just can’t do that! He disobeys orders and continues alone on his mission to save Sarah – hoping to gain a pardon in the process!
