It is Cult Faction’s sad duty to announce that Golden Age comic book artist Allen Bellman has passed away at the age of 95 years old.
Bellman was born on June 5th 1924 and became obsessed with comics after he saw and purchased a copy of Action Comics #1. He first began working for Timely Comics (known later as Atlas Comics) in 1942 after seeing a job advert in the newspaper. One of his first assignments was to draw the early Captain America stories. He also drew the original Human Torch.
After his work in the comics industry ended in the 1960s, he continued to attend comic book conventions into his 90s. Only last year he was presented with a proclamation for his contributions to Jewish heritage which was a dream come true.
