Over the last decade British children’s television has been a shadow of its former self. What was once a rich, fertile industry that broke down barriers became a mosaic of acid induced baby programmes that offered little to young minds and talked down to its audience telling them what they thought they should know. Gone were The Children of Green Knowe, Moondial, The Boy From Space, Dark Towers, and others. We even witnessed Grange Hill close its doors and with it the BBC closed its doors on children’s TV did when it shipped all children’s tv off their main channels onto CBeebies; but that dark time appears to be ending. In recent years shows like Stranger Things, Eve, The Fugitives, The Ghost Hunter, and The Demon Headmaster have raised the standards of expectations in young people. Young and old alike have enjoyed these shows proving their is an audience for them. So how about you make some more?
Now to carry that mantle further comes The Lunar Squad where a young school girl and budding explorer (Ashley) finds a mysterious map inside an old comic book following a breaking news story, reporting a UFO sighting. Persuading her friends to join her (the feisty Kizzie, Jack the big brother, the brains of the gang Nick, Max the cool kid, Kara the comic book nerd, comedian Cub and the edgy Scarlett), they go on a hunt to find the crash site, leading to them going back in time and having an adventure of a lifetime. A new generation of superheroes are born, leaping through the universe and stars, but they are not alone, a dark side is around every corner. In this case The Dark Side is led by the evil Lady V who The Lunar Squad will encounter on their journey. They will also meet others loyal to The Dark Side!
