It is Cult Faction’s sad duty to report that Emmy award winning actor John Karlen has passed away at the age of 86 years old. The cause of death has been reported to be congestive heart failure while in hospice care in Burbank, California. The sad news was revealed by Dark Shadows News on twitter and has since been reported across the entertainment world:

A huge star on Broadway and the screen, Karlen was known for playing Harvey Lacey in Cagney & Lacey, and the multiple roles of Willie Loomis, Desmond Collins, and Kendrick Young in Dark Shadows. Karlen also appeared in Murder She Wrote, Daughters of Darkness, Mad About You, Surf Ninjas, The New Mike Hammer, Gimme an ‘F’, Strike Force, Hill Street Blues, Fame, Trapper John M.D., Quincey M.E., The MOD Squad, Supertrain, Starsky and Hutch, Kojack, Charlie’s Angels, The WIld World of Mystery and a whole lot more.
