Directed by John Frankenheimer, Seconds plays as a mystery movie that focuses on people’s obsession with eternal youth.
As the film opens we meet Arthur Hamilton (played by John Randolph), a middle-aged man whose life has lost purpose. Whilst Arthur is successful in his career he is starting to find his life very unfulfilled. His personal life is similar as his wife are not what they once were. The one day Arthur’s old friend Charlie (played by Murray Hamilton)appears. Arthur thought Charlie had died so is confused by this. Charlie tells Arthur of a secret organization called the “Company” which he has dealings with and offers him a new life. Arthur agrees to set up a meeting.
Later, Arthur arrives for the meeting and discovers its location is actually a meat packing plant. He is given workman overalls and hat, then exits the facility out a different door where he is next seated inside the back of a truck which proceeds to another building. Arthur finds himself in a large complex filled with dark, empty hallways. The Company transforms Hamilton. Through plastic surgery they make him younger and give him a new identity as Antiochus “Tony” Wilson – following the change the role is played by Rock Hudson…
