Created by writer Robert Kirkman and artists Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, Invincible introduces us to what at first glance appears to be the ideal legacy superhero family. We meet Markus “Mark” Sebastian Grayson, the son of Nolan Grayson, known to the world as the superhero Omni-Man. By day Nolan is a successful novelist and is married to Deborah Grayson.
At the age of seven years old Nolan reveals to Mark the truth about his lineage. Nolan explains that he is an alien, a member of a race of peaceful alien explorers called Viltrumites, that he had come to Earth to help mankind and that one day Mark would develop super powers.
At the age of 17 years old Mark’s powers kick in! Mark finds he now has great strength, speed, flight, some invulnerability, fast healing, and he can hold his breath for a really long time (useful for space flights!).
As Mark gets used to his powers he meets the Teen Team – a young superhero team that consists of Robot, Dupli-Kate, Rex Splode, and Atom Eve. Mark and Eve realise they go to the same school and discover that one of their teachers is turning students into bombs! When they confront him they discover he has turned himself into a bomb and is set to detonate. To avoid this Mark flies him to Antarctica and lets him explode there!
Mark later gets a mission from his father who asks him to go and fight a superpowered alien who visits Earth periodically. Upon investigation Mark does not see a reason to fight the alien so chats to him instead. He discovers the alien is named Allen and that it is Allen’s job to assess the strength of Earth’s super powered protectors.
Some time later Earth’s greatest superhero team, the Guardians of the Globe are attacked and killed by Mark’s father Omni-Man. Omni-Man reveals this has all been a part of the Viltrum plan to take over the Earth. He adds that the Viltrumites are actually a warrior race who conquer planets for their Empire, killing anyone who refuses to join. He reveals that he was sent to Earth as an advance agent and killed the Guardians in preparation for the invasion.
Mark refuses his father’s offer to join the Viltrumites…

I need to catch up on it too. It is so good but just don’t seem to have the time to read as much as I used to.
