Cutey Honey (1973)

Cutey Honey aka Cutie Honey was an anime television series created by Toei. It ran for 25 episodes between 1973-74.

Honey is a 16 yr. old girl who discovers she is an android after her father is killed by the Panther Claw organisation. The Panther Claw hoped to attain “unlimited wealth” and to steal the device within Honey created by her father, which would allow them to “create an endless supply of jewels”

The device inside of Honey is the Fixed System of Air Elements. With it, Honey can change into any persona she desires after a nude transformation scene. Honey uses it to get revenge on Panther Claw. Some of Honey’s personas included:

  • Hurricane Honey (biker). A woman who is “cool” with her motorcycle, anytime she needs to escape.
  • Misty Honey (singer). A rockstar with a dusty voice, who uses her microphone as a weapon.
  • Idol Honey (stewardess). A woman disguised as a flight attendant.
  • Flash Honey (cameraman). A reporter who blinds her opponents with her camera’s “flash”.
  • Fancy Honey (model). A classy model who uses a long-stick cigar as a weapon.
  • Cutie Honey (heroine). A sword-wielding pink-haired warrior of love.

Honey is a very mischievous and fun girl, often sneaking out of school, and pulling pranks on her teachers. Even in battle, she loves to toy and tease her enemies. Honey also cares deeply about those around her, and grows a strong bond with the Hayami Family.
