Over The Top (1987)

Over The Top is the age old tale of a struggling directionless trucker, Lincoln Hawk (Sylvester Stallone),  who moonlights as an arm wrestler. I know what you are thinking… I have heard that before but this one is different… Hawk is trying to rebuild his life!

In a totally unpredictable turn of events, Hawk’s estranged wife Christina (Susan Blakely), who is very ill, asks Hawk to pick up their son Michael (David Mendenhall) from military school so that the two of them can get to know each other.

In a twist to the tale it turns out that Hawk had left them ten years earlier with little to no contact. Even worse is the fact that Michael’s rich controlling grandfather Jason Cutler (Robert Loggia) hates Hawk for what he did, well actually he hated him even before that! Jason Cutler believes that Hawk has no right to be in his grandson’s life.

As a result, when father meets son Michael is very distrusting and bitter towards Hawk initially and treats him with contempt at every turn. Surely that wont change… oh yeah and there is more arm wrestling (keep your eyes peeled for Scott “Flash” Norton, Terry Funk, Magic Schwarz, Reggie Bennett, and Connie Woods) and a hat turn that changes everything!

Founded Cult Faction in 2014; previously crawled out of the Black Lodge in 1976, only to find himself in the Village.
