Finally they released it! We have heard all about the upcoming companion series of The Walking Dead entitled “Fear the Walking Dead” but up until today we saw little of it…
The series is set to premiere in the U.S. on AMC Sunday, August 23rd at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT with an extended 90-minute episode.
“Robert Kirkman, Dave Erickson and the fantastic writers, producers, cast and crew responsible for bringing ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ to life have been hard at work creating an entirely distinct and compelling new series,” said Charlie Collier, AMC and SundanceTV president. “We join ‘Fear’ before the rise of the zombie apocalypse with an interesting family dynamic as its entry point. After years of planning, that we are now only six weeks from sharing ‘Fear’ with the world is truly exciting.”
“Anticipation around the world for ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ is reaching a crescendo and we are ecstatic about delivering the series to worldwide fans at the exact same time as the U.S.,” said Bruce Tuchman, President of AMC and Sundance Channel Global. “Whether you’re in Hong Kong, Madrid or São Paulo, AMC viewers will be able to join the journey and experience the start of the zombie apocalypse together.”
Officially dubbed a “companion series,” “Fear the Walking Dead” is executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and showrunner David Erickson and produced by AMC Studios. Co-Executive Producer Adam Davidson, who directed the pilot, is also directing the second and third episodes. The series’ first season, consisting of six one-hour episodes, will premiere on AMC in late summer. “Fear the Walking Dead” shoots in Vancouver, Canada, and has already been renewed for a second season.
Set in Los Angeles, “Fear the Walking Dead” focuses on new characters and storylines, stars Kim Dickens (Gone Girl, “Sons of Anarchy”) as Madison, Cliff Curtis (“Missing,” “Gang Related”) as Travis, Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) as Nick and Alycia Debnam-Carey (Into the Storm) as Alicia. Also joining the cast as series regulars are Elizabeth Rodriguez (“Orange is the New Black”) as Liza and Mercedes Mason (Quarantine 2: Terminal) as Ofelia.
