Yvonne Monlaur

Yvonne Monlaur was a French actress, best known for her work in British films during the 1950s and 1960s. She was born on April 26, 1938, in Pau, France, and began her acting career at a young age.

In the early 1950s, Monlaur moved to England to pursue her acting career and quickly gained recognition for her talent and beauty. She appeared in a number of films during this period, including “The Avenger” (1957), “The Safecracker” (1958), and “The Day the Earth Caught Fire” (1961).

Monlaur’s most notable role came in 1960, when she starred as Marianne in the horror film “The Brides of Dracula.” The film was a huge success and established Monlaur as a talented and sought-after actress. She went on to star in several other films, including Circus of Horrors (1960),  The Terror of the Tongs (1961) and The Night Caller (1965).

Despite her success, Monlaur’s acting career was cut short when she decided to retire from acting in the mid-1960s. She later married and had a son, and lived a quiet and private life away from the spotlight.

Monlaur sadly passed away on April 18th 2017 in Paris, aged 77. She is remembered as a talented and beautiful actress who played a key role in the development of British cinema during the 1950s and 1960s. Her work in films like “The Brides of Dracula” continues to be appreciated and celebrated by fans of the horror genre.
