For all your cult film, tv, cartoon, comic and video game needs

House of the Long Shadows is coming to DVD and Bluray!

In a deserted house, a desperate writer comes seeking a story. When a beautiful girl comes to the rescue, he almost loses a wager, and his life.

Remastered in high definition, this top-notch 1983 horror film from cult-film maker Peter Walker stars four of the most iconic horror legends of all time Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee  and John Carradine. This classic gothic thriller is a murderously funny mystery with a twist, where there is a room for every nightmare and a nightmare in every room.

The film is based on Earl Derr Biggers’ 1913 novel Seven Keys to Baldpate which has been adapted on numerous occasions for film, radio and TV.

“…not as bad as I thought.” Peter Walker, Director

Director Peter Walker self-financed sex and horror films in the late 60s and 70s such as School for Sex, Cool It Carol, The Flesh and Blood Show, House of Mortal Sin and Schizo. Walker gave up filmmaking after House of the Long Shadows, instead he invested his money in property, notably restoring cinemas.

This is the only film in which this legendary ensemble of Price, Lee, Cushing and Carradine have appeared together. Cushing and Lee appeared in 24 films together with House of the Long Shadows being the final one. Although they often played mortal enemies on screen Lee and Cushing were inseparable friends off screen. Both were huge fans of Looney Tunes cartoons and were once asked to leave a theatre showing a Sylvester and Tweety cartoon because they were laughing too much.

The same year House of the Long Shadows was released Price also voiced the spoken word sequence in Michael Jackson’s Thriller which includes the memorable line  “Darkness falls across the land. The midnight hour is close at hand…” Eight years prior to this Price also worked with Alice Cooper on the track The Black Widow where Price portrays “The Spirit of the Nightmare”.

Cast: Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Desi Arnaz (I Love Lucy), John Carradine, Sheila Keith (Crossroads, House of Whipcord, Frightmare), Julie Peasgood (Brookside, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks), Richard Todd, Louise English, Richard Hunter, Norman Rossington.
