It is Cult Faction’s sad duty to report that Cliff Simon passed away Tuesday at the age of 58 years old following a kiteboarding accident at Topanga Beach in Malibu, California. The sad news was broken by his wife Colette who noted that Simon was “a true original, an adventurer, a sailor, swimmer, dancer, actor, author. There is a gaping hole where he once stood on this earth. He was loved by too many to mention and had a great impact on so many lives. He was an amazing and much loved brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend…A small saving grace to this tragedy is that he was doing one of the things he loved most and passed away on the beach near the water, which was his temple.”
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Simon was known for his role as the Goa’uld System Lord Baal on Stargate SG-1. He would reprise his role of Baal a number of times over the series including the 2008 movie Stargate: Continuum. He also appeared in NCIS, Castle, Days of Our Lives, 24, Nash Bridges, Uncovers, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, and Personal Space.
In 2020, Simon served as Executive Producer and host of Into the Unknown (aka Uncharted Mysteries in Europe), a paranormal, investigation show that looked into The Jersey Devil, The Legend of Mount Shasta, The Mojave Sandman, The Rougarou, The Brown Mountain Lights, and The Night Marchers.
