Lone Wolf and Cub: White Heaven in Hell (1974)

Yoshiyuki Kuroda directes the sixth and final entry of the Lone Wolf and Cub series- Lone Wolf and Cub: White Heaven in Hell. Ittō Ogami (once again played by Tomisaburo Wakayama) and his son Daigoro (played once more by Akihiro Tomikawa) find themselves in trouble once more after the Shogun threatens to disgrace the Yagyū clan because of their continual failure to kill Ittō and Daigoro.

As a result of this declaration, Lord Yagyū Retsudo (Minoru Ohki) sends his daughter and last remaining child Kaori (Junko Hitomi), an expert with flying daggers, to kill Ittō and Daigoro. She fails!

Retsudo’s response is to contact the Tsuchigumo, a secretive mountain clan that practices black magic and is commanded by Hyouei (Isao Kimura), an illegitimate son of Retsudo who is determined to cause the downfall of the Yagyū by killing Ittō and Daigoro himself. Hyouei sends his three most fearsome followers, whose abilities include the ability to burrow through the earth and who kill anyone Ittō and Daigoro come into contact with.
