Alan Rickman’s diaries to be published as one book
News has broken that the twenty-seven diaries of the late legendary actor Alan Rickman are to be published as a single book. Rickman, who sadly passed away at the age of 69 years old in 2016, began writing his diaries by hand in the early 1990s. Rickman always intended the diaries to be published and wrote them with what is being described as ‘witty, gossipy and utterly candid’
The Diaries Of Alan Rickman will come from publishing house Canongate who acquired the rights to the diaries, with Scottish Review of Books editor Alan Taylor ready to act as editor. Rickman’s widow Rima Horton said she was ‘delighted’ by the news:
“The diaries reveal not just Alan Rickman the actor, but the real Alan – his sense of humour, his sharp observation, his craftsmanship and his devotion to the arts.”
The current plan is to publish the diaries in 2022.
