Edd Byrnes passes away aged 87
It is Cult Faction’s sad duty to announce that actor Edd Byrnes has died suddenly at his home in Santa Monica at the age of 87 years old.
Byrnes was globally known for his role as TV host Vince Fontaine in the 1978 movie Grease (watch his awesome flip in at the end!). He also starred in 77 Sunset Strip. This led to a music career with the single “Kookie, Kookie (Lend Me Your Comb)” with Connie Stevens.
Through his career he also chalked up roles in Quincy M.E., Murder She Wrote, The Young Invaders, Johnny Trouble, Maverick, Lawman, The Silent Gun, Adam-12, Alias Smith and Jones, Stardust, Police Story, Police Woman, CHiPS, Charlie’s Angels, BJ and the Bear, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Crazy Like A Fox, Simon & Simon, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, Married: With Children and a whole host more.
