Review- The Mandalorian Ep. 1: Chapter One

Lost a bit of love for Star Wars since the mouse moved in? Think they don’t understand what we loved and why? Genuinely assume there’s someone employed at Disney, whose sole job is to take all the great ideas and make it all a bit awkward and embarrassing by shoe-horning in fashionable and agenda-tipped ideologies?

Yep. Me too man, me too.

I think it’s fair to say I wasn’t going into this new Disney+ series with high expectations. In fact, I was expecting another shit show…

Dooku’s beard was I wrong!

It’s dark, it’s gritty, it’s emotional! It’s got wit, it’s got charm and it’s got bags of nostalgia goodness!!

Imagine if Boba Fett and the Sergio Leone era, Clint ‘Waaahh aaah-aaah-aaah Aaaaaaah’ Eastwood, made mad passionate love back in the 70’s and had a secret lovechild.   Imagine he grew up to be a total bad-ass with a bit of mystery about him, like any good bounty hunter always did.     Then treat yourself; Imagine it had been written and directed by people who clearly love Star Wars the same way we do and, wait for it…. Is targeted at adults!

Ok, so maybe big man-child adults, but you get where I’m coming from.

Disney+ isn’t available in the UK until March next year, but for everyone who can, drop everything and go watch it. Episodes 1 and 2 are out now and so far, it’s been fantastic.   Don’t drop the ball Disney, you owe us!
