In the second episode of Shudder’s Creepshow we first get Bad Wolf Down, where a platoon of American soldiers is forced to hide out in a dilapidated police station during WWII, but they soon discover something more sinister than war has been unleashed inside the building: a werewolf. Could the werewolf be a key to victory against the Nazis? The segment was written and directed by Rob Schrab and features the acting talents of Dave MacDonald, Callan Wilson, Kid Cudi, Nelson Bonilla, Jeffrey Combs and Kate Freund.
Verdict: 5/10 A fun gory watch that is let down by the fact you can see everything coming a mile off.
Next up is The Finger which was written by David J. Schow and is directed by Greg Nicotero. It stars DJ Qualls, Antwan Mills and Jake Garber. In the segment Clark breaks the fourth wall and tells us about his life and how he has ended up in the situation he is in, Clark has a passion for found objects. One day, he finds something particularly odd: a finger. He takes it home and it grows- first another finger, then an arm, then a whole creature. Clark names him Bob, and they get along great… until Bob starts murdering.
Verdict: 5/10 A well acted piece by the always awesome DJ Qualls, but unfortunately the narrative doesn’t really go anywhere, even as Qualls ends the episode as he does I feel more could of been done with him.
Final Verdict: 5/10 A fun episode that you can watch and not have to concentrate too much on. Some nice pastiche moments but a small step backwards compared to Episode 1.
