Review: The Good Place Season 4 Ep. 1 A Girl from Arizona (Part 1)

The Good Place is back and immediately deals us the first of a two-parter! The experiment is in full swing with Eleanor (Kristen Bell) welcoming the humans into The Good Place, while trying to understand the motivations as to why The Bad Place chosen them.

Among the new humans is a bigot named Brent (Benjamin Koldyke), who spends the episode constantly asking Janet for items. Another new arrival is Linda (Rachel Winfree), an old woman who is unimpressed with everything.

Meanwhile Simone (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) believes that everything is a figment of her imagination and Derek (Jason Mantzoukas) begins stepping up his quest for Janet (D’Arcy Carden), annoying Jason (Manny Jacinto) in the process.

Verdict: 6.5/10 although this is Part 1 of a two part story so the rating will probably be higher following Part 2 next week. This is a fine start to the final season which is setting up all the chess pieces that will lead to the show’s end game.
