Organiser of Island Con, Ben E. Belton said: “What better way to celebrate May 4th, than to load as many Star Wars cosplayers onto a ferry as possible!
“We’re really excited and we cannot wait to see all those brilliant Star Wars fans on board the Millennium Falcon… May the 4th be with you!”
Those who want to join in should meet at Red Funnel Ferries Terminal 1 Ticket Office, Southampton, and be sure to arrive no later than 10:45am. No booking is required.
Island Con has world appeal:
60% of those attending Island Con this October will be doing so as visitors to the Island. Not only that, but Island Con is also attracting visitors from across the world.
Twitter user @HiddenDemonSM is just one of many who are making the long journey to the Isle of Wight this year, all the way from Singapore.
The fan is making the trek – including a 14 hour flight, to see actor Michael Eklund at Island Con. Michael is known for disappearing into every role and radically transforming his look for each new character. Recent pivotal and leading roles in film for Michael include Into The Forest, Zoom, The Call, and TV shows which include the hit series Gotham, amongst others.
“We’re really excited that Island Con has an appeal across the world” said organiser Ben E. Belton.
He continued: “We have some great international stars heading to the island in October, so it’s no wonder fans from across the world want to head in the same direction.
“The Isle of Wight is a great place for a pop-culture event like Island Con – and is also a great destination for a holiday, so people have the best of both worlds” he added.
Tickets for the event have also been sold as far away as Malaysia & South Africa, showing that Island Con has fantastic world appeal.
