A myth whispered in fear. An urban legend, spiralling out of control. A story made flesh. Children beware… the Spindly Man is coming.
Children are vanishing. The police have no leads. A small town holds its breath in anticipation of the next disappearance. The children know what hunts them. An entity dismissed by adults, but that feeds on the fear and trauma of those around it. The Spindly Man has come, a modern legend given life, the terrified children as its prey.
Mandy hunts Monsters. Her name is whispered on the playground, a legend among the children of the world. Whatever creature troubles you, when the adults won’t listen, it is Mandy that can help you out. All you need to do is draw a picture of the beast, and it will reach her.
She’s the thing that the things in the dark are afraid of… until now.
Because the Spindly Man is a force unheard of, terrifying away the monsters that merely aim to give children a fright… and stealing the souls of its victims. Inspired by both the internet tale of “Slender Man” and the hit art-house horror “The Babadook”, “The Spindly Man” draws on these, and our own original mythology to create a deliciously dark modern monster.
“The Legend of the Spindly Man” is a brand new horror-fantasy comic, terrifying for readers of all ages. A stand alone story, those new to the character of “Mandy” will find this the perfect introduction to her world of monsters under the bed and creatures lurking in the shadows. Older readers will appreciate the dark undertones, and themes reminiscent of the works of Neil Gaiman or Terry Pratchett, whilst younger readers will see a world of terrifying monsters and an awesome female protagonist. “Mandy the Monster Hunter” will face her toughest challenge yet in “The Legend of the Spindly Man”, a four-part mini-series launching 2018.
Inspired by viral storytelling, Mandy must uncover the dark origins of the Spindly Man, and save the missing children… if she can! As with all “Mandy” stories, it is written with all-ages in mind, but as this is her scariest tale yet we’d personally recommend ages 12+ (PG-13 for those in the US)… but every child is individual, as Mandy well knows. This debut issue will be 28-pages, full colour and all physical copies will come bagged and boarded.
