Directed by Hannah Looney, Counter Girl follows the adventures a girl named Mona who is hired at Pops’ Roller Rink, but this isn’t just any roller rink. It is literally timeless. Mona navigates the ups and downs of her job with the help of her new friends and love-interest. Things get complicated when Mona is confronted with the reality of living her life outside of time.
Looney is currently a senior in Film and Video Studies at George Mason University with big dreams for my future in film. Counter Girl is her senior thesis film and her team want to share this story because they think everyone feels a little nostalgic sometimes!
In order to make this dream become a reality, they need your help. You can become a part of this journey with them in a couple of different ways, and who doesn’t like perks?
Below you’ll find a list of donations accompanied with perks that give you an insider look into their film. Items such as marketing materials for the film to a producer credit! Anything helps, and even if you can’t donate, any support they receive via social media or word of mouth is greatly appreciated.
With your help, it becomes possible for Counter Girl to reach its full potential as well as go above and beyond. All of the donations will go directly back into the film; your contributions will help feed the crew, give the locations a bit of style, and eventually send the film itself to film festivals! Every dollar counts towards making this an experience for everyone to enjoy.
Counter Girl is a story that transcends time with a little bit of nostalgic fun along the way, but it isn’t their first venture through time. Last year, Looney had the opportunity to direct the music video for Gone by Rapper Aylive.
Gone has been screened at film festivals such as the Washington West Film Festival, the Virginia Film Festival, and more to come! Looney’s work on Gone has laid the groundwork for her as a director and paved the way for the story of Counter Girl.
