Cult Girls is an art-house horror feature film. It is an Australian/Lithuanian/German co-production shot in haunted landscapes, remote villages and featuring authentic pagan rituals.
The plot follows Dalia and her two sisters who grow up in a pagan apocalyptic cult. She escapes and the cult is closed and broken up by authorities – or so Dalia thought. Years later signs of the cult re-emerge. With her two sisters still missing, Dalia must journey into the wilderness to seek an exiled antichrist who may hold the key to their disappearance. Her investigation quickly becomes a descent into hell.
Influenced by the golden era of art house cult horror films made in the late 60’s and early 70’s including The Devils, The Wicker Man and The Rape of The Vampire, the film explores occult themes with a clever mix of surrealism, eroticism and gothic horror.
The film also revels in the mythology surrounding the infamous European Black Metal scene. In the 90’s members of the Black Metal scene were responsible for a spate of church burnings and murders, with artists expressing extreme anti-Christian and misanthropic views, and advocating various forms of satanism or ethnic paganism.
CULT GIRLS showcases a live performance from Swedish death metal band Tribulation. This was shot at the Dark Mofo festival in Tasmania, which has been described as “vast, immersive, disorientating and demonic.”

“In studying my family’s Lithuanian heritage, I was fascinated by the tales of pagan folklore and traditions. Lithuania was the last country to be converted to Christianity, so it remained the last pagan nation in Europe. This event ended one of the most violent and lengthiest processes of Christianization in European history. These factors resonated personally, so I explored them in the script. Anyone with family connections to these dark European myths and legends will be as fascinated as I am by their modern depiction in CULT GIRLS.
I also wanted the film to contain strong female characters, common in current horror films and evident in Lithuanian folklore. That’s why we’re so thrilled to have Jane Badler from the classic sci-fi series ‘V‘ and more recently seen in TV’s Offspring playing alongside award winning Finnish Australian actor Saara Lamberg. CULT GIRLS offers you powerful women in the darkest depths of haunted horror.”
To finish the post production we need professional sound design, composition, foley and sound mix. Visually we also need colour grading and mastering on the film. This is crucial for a proper cinema release, and without it, we won’t be able to show the film how it’s meant to be seen.
