Robert Guillaume passes away at the age of 89 years old

It is Cult Faction’s sad duty to announce that Benson himself, Robert Guillaume has passed away at the age of 89 years old following a battle with prostate cancer in in Los Angeles, California.

Guillaume was born in St. Louis, Missouri and he went onto study at St. Louis University and Washington University and served in the United States Army before pursuing an acting career.

In 1966 he debuted in the TV movie Porgy in Wien, roles soon followed in Julia, Marcus Welby, M.D., Super Fly T.N.T., Sanford and Son, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Soap, The Love Boat, Prince Jack, North and South, and Benson. 

On November 28, 1984, Guillaume received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work in the television industry.

Further roles included Wanted: Dead or Alive, Perry Mason: The Case of the Scandalous Scoundrel, William Tell, Death Warrant, Pacific Station, Fish Police, The Meteor Man, The Addams Family, Diagnosis Murder, Saved by the Bell: The College Years, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Lion King, Spy Hard, Doomsday Virus, The Outer Limits, The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride, Timon & Pumbaa, Sports Night, Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child, 8 Simple Rules, Big Fish, and as Dr. Eli Vance in the Half-Life video game franchise.
